Although outpatient programs are used to achieve the same goals as an inpatient or residential programs, however, progress can be slow as therapy is only provided on a weekly or daily basis for a few hours; intensive caretaking is not available. This type of program is a more flexible approach recommended for individuals with a lesser severity level and those who cannot compromise on other important commitments.
In this type of treatment, it is necessary that the patient’s family is cooperative and is willing to give time and care to the client.
